Baby Bird!

This morning while Levi was out trying to shoot a squirrel, he discovered a tiny baby bird sitting up by our shooting range. We think it’s a little Blue Jay, but I got plenty of pictures just to make sure!

I got to pick it up first, and it stayed on my hand the whole time.. and it didn’t want to get off! When Levi tried to put it back on the ground, the little birdie started to hop up my arm. :) Dad wasn’t sure what it was, but Mom says it’s either a blue jay or a bluebird. She’s leaning more toward bluebird though, because of it’s long beak. (We used to have a ‘pet’ baby blue jay that Mom took care of, until it got big enough to fly away..)

I didn’t have the camera when we first found him, so I had to run back and get Mom’s. It’s probably a good thing I got Mom’s camera instead of mine, or the pictures wouldn’t have been so clear. I love all the options on her camera!

Dad had him posed on his finger for a while and let me take a few pictures, then he put him down on a stump. Then I got a LOT of close up, mostly clear pictures of him. I didn’t want to post them all here, because they’re mostly the same. ;) These give you the general idea!!

I love how these little hens posed for me. Especially the one on the right. She held her head in that position until I took the picture.. I’m not kidding! All the little hens are doing great, and the roosters are growing like weeds. :)

And, I took one of them and made a Scripture wallpaper out of, too! Let me know if you want it in a bigger size, just drop a comment. :) I took this photo specifically for a Scripture wallpaper, which is why I put the birdie’s head in the bottom corner.

Matthew 6:26
Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?

  1. So cool–I am switching to this wallpaper, though I am afraid I may miss Oddball too much!

  2. The little bird is so cute!!! Though it does look a bit crazy! :-)
