Keets in turkey building brooder

Yesterday Mom and I cleaned out the turkey building area (which was used for the chicks) and moved the guinea keets into it. They love all the space, and especially the wood chips. They ‘dirt bath’ in the woodchips and fling them everywhere! Into the water and food too.

Several of them have already begun to fly up to the roost at night and during the day for rest. Oh, and our runt whom I nicknamed ‘Tiny’ is actually beginning to grow! Slowly but surely! We picked up a bag of turkey starter and are feeding that to them now. I did put a little walkway up to the roost for those who couldn’t fly up yet, or just wanted to walk up. :) And there’s a concrete block behind it so if it does happen to slip and fall, it’ll fall on that instead of on one of the keets!!

Mom read someplace that guineas like to see themselves, so Levi provided our keets with a mirror from his bedroom! They like to look into it and see themselves. At first, they thought it was more room and ran for it. Well, the mirror brought them to a quick stop, which was rather surprising and disappointing for them!! They’ve knocked it over several times, I guess from trying to run into it, but I keep propping it back up! I think they like it though.

I got two good close up pictures of the keets, this one shows more than the other, or rather, gives more detail. I’d like to put a Scripture verse on one or the other, but I’m not sure which one to use. If you have any suggestions please leave me a comment! :D

Now, I know I don’t post many pictures of myself, mostly because I have a hard time taking a picture of myself. But I was trying to get a good one of me playing the psaltery. I used the timer on the camera, and had to rush back real quick and start playing before it took the picture. I only had 10 seconds. :P

This one below is of me holding my psaltery. :)

  2. I do that too with my camera…turn on the 10 second timer and try and get in a good position for a pose. Normally I will have to take several pictures to get one that’s deemable :-)
    Your pictures turned out great!!!

Is your covering homemade? It looks great! You should sell some of those :-)

Dawn ~ I took a couple of pictures too until I could get one that turned out! Thanks. :)

Yes, Mom made my covering. I’m hoping that whenever I learn to sew I can make my own!! Thank you for commenting. :D
